Letrozole vs. Clomid: What’s the Difference?

This week, we’re focusing on two of the most common medications used to support ovulation: Letrozole and Clomid. If you’ve been experiencing irregular cycles or difficulty ovulating, these may be part of your fertility treatment plan.

What is Clomid?

Clomid (clomiphene citrate) works by blocking estrogen receptors in the brain. This stimulates your body to produce more of the hormones (FSH and LH) that trigger ovulation.

What is Letrozole?

Letrozole (often known by the brand name Femara) temporarily lowers estrogen levels. In response, the brain increases FSH and LH production. Letrozole is commonly used for people with PCOS and may come with fewer side effects than Clomid.
